More Exciting Than Having Kids? Dropping Them Off On The First Day of the School Year

Posted on28 Aug 2010

In two weeks my vacation begins. Kids go back to school on Sept 7th. Hopefully I will then slowly recuperate from this idiocy disease which has stolen my mind and ability to function (of course I’m gonna blame the kids otherwise I’d have to actually admit that it was me and isn’t that the whole reason you have kids? Garbage duty and someone to blame everything on?). Bur, at least I’m not this dumb:

Faith-based bathroom break

A Miami (Ohio) University student confessed after he was caught in an alley urinating on holy ground.

When officers asked 19-year-old Jacob Pleban whether he realized he was whizzing on the Methodist church, Pleban replied, “I’m Catholic.”

Pleban was charged with public urination, disorderly conduct and underage intoxication.

I’ll NEVER admit how long it took me to figure this out. But, I’ll tell you this – I was still waiting for that first pot of coffee to brew and squinting my eyes to cut down the blur.

If this video gets you excited you must either a) be a nun or b) have kids.

I stand in solidarity with your pain/idiocy. My kids start on Sept. 7 as well and I am counting the hours. Can. Not. Wait. Oy.

And way to go on the 19-year-old giving Catholics a bad name.

I can’t believe how much the starting date of school varies across the country these days. Here in Raleigh, school started for the traditional calendar last week. Many schools are on year-round schedules, so many of them have been in session all along.

I’ve seen some schools that started back the first week in August. I can’t remember where they are, but I remember the news stories about struggling to deal with temperatures in the high 90s and no air conditioning.

Anyway, enjoy your “vacation”. Christmas break will be here before you know it.

My son’s first day back to school is Thursday Sept.2nd, and I’m also very much looking forward to having the house to myself so I can complete a thought and sentence without being interrupted every five seconds.
