Westborough Baptist Church is a group of low-brow, clod-hopping , countrified idiots who hate everyone and everything and like to go prancing around spewing uneducated, unintelligent, uncultivated, uncultured, uninstructed, (name-calling is all they understand) poo everywhere they can. The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) of Topeka, Kansas, is an Old School (or, Primitive) Baptist Church. We adhere to the teachings of the Bible, preach against all form of sin (e.g., fornication, adultery [including divorce and remarriage], sodomy), and insist that the sovereignty of God and the doctrines of grace be taught and expounded publicly to all men. These self-loathing idiots are coming to my city – Norfolk, VA – They will be protesting at my sons school and all around our neighborhood. Probably the best thing to do is just ignore them. They target gays, jews and military. They teach hate and intolerance. I don’t get it. Are they bored? Did their mama beat them? Did their daddy ignore them? What causes people to hate at such an extreme level that they want to go out and teach everyone their hateful messages?

I agree 100% with you. Those people are idiots and they are very disrespectful. They have some very stupid beliefs but the worst thing they do is picket funerals and to me that is just wrong. A funeral is supposed to be a quiet time to morn the loss of loved ones but yet they stand on the sidelines with their stupidity, ignorant signs, and looking like poorly dressed tornado victims. I think those people are severely messed up in the head. I feel sorry for those kids that they brainwash.

As a Bishop of my own diocese, I can say this is absolutely deplorable and against scripture. While scripture says that GOD condemn an action, nowhere does GOD condemn a person. Its jack @$$es like this that make life near impossible for real Christians.

I’m so appalled whenever I hear of these people. I don’t think they’re reading the same Bible I read. Mine says that God is love.(1 John 4:8) It says Jesus came into the world not to condemn it but to save it.(John 3:17)
Once I stop screaming and pulling out my hair, I remind myself that just because they are doing these deplorable things in Jesus’ name does not mean that Jesus approves of their actions.

A friend of mine has created a protest to their protest. It’s called Pennies in Protest you can read more about it here http://www.kidsofqueers.com/?p=306 . The money they raise will go directly to the groups these dumbasses hate so much.
I’ve been writing about these dumbasses for years. My 17 year old son has started protesting against them and encouraging his friends to do the same.

Suffice it to say, It is what it is. I have a hard time quoting scripture. But I do have a firm belief in GOOD vs EVIL. And folks bearing false witness, in the name of God, are by that very nature EVIL.
Their atonement for what they are doing will not come of this earth. It will be judged on the other side, by the good Lord hisself. Ignore them. It’s hard to bang a drum loudly, if nobody’s listening.

I’ve heard all I need to about about Westboro church over the years – and every-time it I’d question, “How sure are these guys, that they believe they have the right to speak on behalf of God ? Why have ‘they’ decided who God hates – isn’t that for Him to decide ?”
We have always been told a story of two men from the children of Israel. One of them a sinner and one a pious man. I’ll make it short
So one day, the pious man sees the sinner and tells him to stop what he is doing. The sinner says “leave me alone” and the pious man replies, “God will never forgive you”
After death, God summons these two men, and he tells the pious man, “How did you decide for me whom I shall forgive and not forgive ?”
And God sent that pious man to Hell and the sinner to Heaven.

Anyone who claims to be a christian, but hates, condemns, judges or “takes action against”, is a liar and loves not God. These people are misguided, it’s sad, really. Any religion preaching hate is pretty sad, in my opinion. They’ll shoot up an abortion clinic, yet fail to see the irony of that action. In a perfect world, social services would drive up to every abortion protest line and hand each protester a crack baby, congratulating them on their fast track adoption.
Don’t like gays? Don’t be gay. The rest is none of your business. Don’t marry them in your church. Church and state should be separate anyway. It’s the state that needs to pass the gay marriage laws.

As an Englishman, I have no direct exposure to (or first-hand knowledge of) these people. However, it seems to me that the cause of their behaviour can be attributed to their extremely narrow education (presumably little more than a literal (not symbolic) understanding of whichever version of the bible they happen to have had preached to them for the last few years). On that basis, surely education – perhaps compulsory education (I’m only half-joking), where they’re persuaded to reconsider their worldly views by forced exposure to a wide range of scientific, sociological and related educational literature – is the solution to “remedy” their intolerable opinions and behaviour.
For the sake of advancing a balanced and rational argument, might I suggest that their new “education” begins with the works of Charles Darwin and Richard Dawkins.
